2007 New Year’s Resolutions –
Grow from the Inside-Out

When it comes to choosing New Year’s Resolutions most people go with the same ol’ thing each year:

  1. The Girls: I wanna lose 10 lbs off my thighs, get rid of the cellulite and fit into my old jeans!
  2. The Guys: This year I’m gonna bulk up. But, I’m gonna lose the Molson Muscle, lean out and get really ripped!

Ever catch yourself thinking along these lines?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that it’s bad to take pride in your appearance. Taking pride in your appearance is a good thing.

It just seems to me that these kinds of resolutions, goals that focus primarily on fixing outer appearances and images fall short. They touch on part of the equation, the body, but ignore the 2/3’s on the inside; the mind and spirit.

Maybe that’s the reason resolutions of this nature fizzle out within a few weeks???

How about tryin’ something new!?!

Shifting your focus inward i.e: aiming to fortify a strong mind and spirit can bring long lasting rewards and many pleasant surprises.

Here are 10 ways in which you can grow strong from the inside-out:

  1. Don’t try to please everybody. Set healthy limits and boundaries. Know thyself.
  2. Be more forgiving…of yourself and others.
  3. Stretch yourself by cultivating more courage.
  4. Cultivate more patience…towards yourself and others.
  5. Give up perfectionism. Now that’s perfect!
  6. Be present. Fully present. Hone your listening skills.
  7. Laugh more. Laugh at yourself. We’re here for a good time, not a long time!
  8. Develop a sense of adventure and engage life.
  9. Commit to being committed. Finish what you start.
  10. *Find the ‘Magic’ in the ‘Manure.’

Often when we focus inward, the external goals we sometimes struggle with fall into place…naturally and with less effort.

I Wish You Health & Happiness 2007!
